The secret to the unmatched comfort provided by Lossnay core is the cross-flow, plate-fin structure of the heat-exchange unit. A diaphragm made of a specially processed paper fully separates inducted and exhausted air supplies, ensuring that only fresh air is introduced to the indoor environment.
The superior heat-transfer and moisture permeability of the special paper assure highly effective total heat exchange (temperature and humidity) when inducted and exhausted air supplies cross in the Lossnay core.
With up to 70% of sensible and latent energy being recovered from exhaust air, Lossnay & RenewAire Energy Recovery Ventilators remove stale, unhealthy air and replace it with fresh ventilating air, while reducing energy costs for ventilation.return to top
The Lossnay Core is built upon the principle of “Cross-Flow Static-Plate Heat Exchanger”. Fresh air passes through one direction, while stale air passes through a different passage in perpendicular direction separated by partition plates. Both air flows are completely separated, with no gas leakage and no cross contamination.
No moving parts are used in the Cross-Flow State-Plate Technology, and thus having the advantages of maximizing heat transfer efficiency, easy and low maintenance, long service life, and no break downs.return to top
The Lossnay Core is made up from stacks of specially treated partition membranes. These membranes contain tiny pores that:
- Allow water (H2O) molecules to pass freely between the fresh air and stale air streams.
- Prevent the larger molecules associated with contaminated gases and bacteria (e.g.ammonia, carbon dioxide, etc) from passing thru the membrane pores.

Our Energy Recovery Ventilators can exchange both heat and moisture (latent heat) which allows more control over moisture levels.
Where winter climates are extremely dry, Lossnay can recover some of the moisture that would otherwise be exhausted to the outdoors by regular HRVs. This helps to maintain a more comfortable humidity level, reducing static electricity, sore throats and other discomforts or problems caused by dry air. This also reduces humidifier needs.
During summers, Lossnay can help keep excess moisture and heat outdoors by extracting the moisture from the incoming fresh air and transferring it to the exhaust air. Since less energy is required to lower the temperature of dry air compared to moist air, Lossnay can reduce the load on the air conditioner and de-humidifier which saves you money.return to top
Lossnay transfers both sensible (temperature) heat and latent (humidity) heat!
Since moisture in its gaseous state is being transferred from one air stream to another, no liquid water will accumulate. Therefore, no condensation pan or drainage is needed.
This allows Lossnay to be installed in a wide variety of orientations and applications.

At times when the outdoor air is cooler than the indoor air, for example in morning or at night or when there is a crowd of people, Lossnay's built in by-pass damper will activate to bring in the cooler fresh air and reduce the indoor cooling load.
This by-pass ventilation can also be used at nighttimes to purge the warm, stale air that was accumulated during daytime in the hot summer days, bringing in cooler outdoor air for a refreshing start to the next day.
The by-pass ventilation can be activated automatically in Auto Ventilation Mode or manually in By-pass Ventilation Mode.
